Harry Twohig
#iwill Ambassador
Harry is a 19-year-old university student and 2019 #iwill Ambassador from the North East of England. He’s been involved in volunteering from a young age, and his aspiration is for every single young person in the UK to have the opportunity to experience social action. Recently, he’s had the privilege of working with the British Youth Council and the government Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as a member of their Youth Steering Group, providing advice to the government on their engagement strategy for young people. Harry is also an active volunteer at The Mix, both within their online support community and as a member of their Youth Voice Panel. Finally, he is a Young Trustee at local charity NYMAZ (North Yorkshire Youth Music Action Zone), supporting them in their mission to make excellent music happen for every young person in North Yorkshire. Throughout Harry’s time in youth voice, he has developed a passion for advocating for inclusive consultations that recognise the uniqueness of young people, and allow as many people as possible to have their voices heard.
When Naomi, Project Hope’s founder, put a call out on twitter to say that she was looking for people to join her to create a youth led project to combat loneliness among young people, Harry jumped at the chance to get involved. He’s loved working with the team to grow and develop the project in all sorts of ways, focusing particularly on organising the sessions that we have delivered. He is proud to be able to say he’s been a part of Project Hope, and would love to see many more youth-led projects develop in the future.
